We preparing to take the next step on Brody’s journey to good health. Brody has been bravely battling to keep his eye for a year and a half now. He started the chemo process with full body chemo (3 months) aimed at killing any cancer that might have spread. For the past 10 months he has been receiving a specialized chemo treatment. This new treatment was a surgical procedure that went through his arterial system and dropped chemo directly on the tumor. Afterward each treatment, laser treatments chipped away at the tumor giving us great hope for saving the eye. However, the first of December brought the gut-wrenching news that the tumor was bleeding heavily and the eye would have to come out. So on January 6, 2012 Dr. Murray will take one more look at the eye and unless there is a “miraculous” turnaround, he will take Brody’s right eye out.
During this Christmas season we are grateful that Brody is alive and doing well. It has been a long battle and through it all we have learned a little more about perseverance. We have experienced that it is difficult to fight a short illness, but extremely challenging to deal with an extended one. However, in the midst of this battle, the God of Peace has been faithful to give us peace that goes beyond explanation. He has given us a peace that the Apostle Paul says, “surpasses all understanding.” This peace has truly guarded our hearts and minds through Jesus Christ! In this season of JOY, our family has “joy unspeakable!” If that sounds contradictory, it is! If that sounds hard to understand, it is! But then how does one try to explain a God Who is larger than our understanding? It is this great big wonderful God Whom we honor at Christmas!
Thank you for praying for our family. Thank you for praying for Brody’s healing! We are continuing to trust our Father for Brody’s healing! He has affirmed over and over in our lives that He is a God and does ALL THINGS well. It is no different in Brody’s case! He is doing all things well.
Merry Christmas,
Pastor Eddie
